Crossova

Terms of Use

Last updated:

If the Turkish and English versions differ, the Turkish version prevails.

Hi! These terms set out your rights and ours when you use the Crossova mobile app and the crossova.app website ("Crossova", the "service"). By continuing when you create an account, you accept these terms and the Community Rules and the Mil and Rewards Terms, which form part of them. How we handle your personal data is explained separately in the KVKK Notice and the Privacy Policy. Those are information notices, not part of this contract; you are not asked to accept them.

Please read carefully, especially §8 (meetups and safety) and §13 (liability).

1. Parties

1.1 Service provider: Crossova's founder Doğukan Bener, an individual ("Crossova", "we"). When a company is set up for Crossova, the service and this agreement will be transferred to it; we will announce this in advance in the app and on this page (§17.3).

1.2 User: the individual aged 18 or over who opens an account ("you").

1.3 How to reach us is set out in §18: e-mail and in-app support. We also correspond with you through these channels.

2. What Crossova is and isn't

2.1 Crossova is a social network that connects people who are in the same place at the same time, around flights, cities, events and venues. Users create Crosses, say "I'm in", chat and share.

2.2 Content shared by you and other users belongs to users. Crossova hosts it (as a hosting provider) and does not pre-screen it. When we become aware of content that breaks the rules or the law, we act as described in §7.

2.3 Crossova is not an event organiser, ticket seller, travel agency, or dating service. Crosses and meetups are created by users. Whether an event (flight, concert, match) takes place is the responsibility of whoever organises it.

2.4 The core features are free. Safety features are always free.

3. Age, account and verification

3.1 Crossova is for people aged 18 and over only. At sign-up you state your birth date and the age check is done on our servers. If you are under 18, sign-up is refused and cannot be retried with the same account. Your birth date is not shown on your profile. If we later learn that you are under 18, your account will be closed.

3.2 One person, one account. Your account is personal: you may not transfer, sell or rent it, or open one for someone else.

3.3 Give accurate information. Fake identities and impersonation are not allowed. Kız Kıza (Girls Only) spaces are open to everyone who selects "woman" as their gender on their profile; no document or ID is required. Misusing this choice to enter these spaces (e.g. to bother women) is not allowed; a "fake account" report does not restrict an account by itself, a human reviews it.

3.4 Verifying your phone number is optional and is not a sign-in method. A verified phone may be required for some features (e.g. partner rewards).

3.5 You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe. If you notice unauthorised use, tell us right away.

4. Community Rules

4.1 The Community Rules are an integral part of these terms and can always be read in the app under Settings → Community rules and on crossova.app.

4.2 In short: be respectful, don't harass anyone, don't share illegal or sexual content, don't expose other people's personal details, don't scam anyone, and don't use other people's work without permission.

4.3 We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). When such content or behaviour is found, the content is removed, the account is closed permanently and the matter is reported to the competent authorities. Details: crossova.app/en/child-safety.

5. Your content and the permission you give us

5.1 Ownership. You keep your rights in the photos, videos, audio, texts, stories, comments and messages you share ("content"). Crossova does not become the owner.

5.2 The permission (licence) you give us. So that we can run the service, you give Crossova a free, non-exclusive, worldwide permission, limited to the following purposes, to:

  • store and reproduce your content on our servers and those of our service providers,
  • display and transmit it to users with the visibility you choose (e.g. Followers, Everyone, a Cross chat),
  • adapt it for technical purposes only: resizing, cropping, compressing, converting formats, removing location and other metadata from photos and videos,
  • use it in features you trigger (share cards, year-in-review, adding to a story, etc.),
  • sub-license it to our service providers (hosting, notifications) for these purposes only,
  • review reported content for moderation.

5.3 Separate permission for promotion. If we want to use your content on Crossova's official accounts, on social media or in advertising, we will ask for your explicit permission each time. If you say no, nothing changes.

5.4 Duration. This permission ends when you delete the content or close your account, except for:

  • (a) the copies of chat messages that remain with the other participants, for the chat retention period in the Privacy Policy,
  • (b) removal from backups within a reasonable technical period,
  • (c) records we must keep by law or content preserved because of legal proceedings.

5.5 Your assurance. You confirm that you hold the necessary rights in what you share. You are expected to get the permission of other people who appear in your content, especially the faces of strangers. Don't share other people's work (photos, music, videos, match-broadcast footage) without permission.

5.6 Crossova's content. The app's design, logo, name ("Crossova"), texts, game and question content, and posts by Crossova's official accounts belong to Crossova or its licensors. You may use them only for your personal use of the app.

5.7 GIFs. GIF search is provided by GIPHY ("Powered by GIPHY"). GIFs are shown from GIPHY's servers, and your use of them is also subject to GIPHY's terms. Rights in GIFs belong to GIPHY and the rights holders.

6. Reporting rights infringements

6.1 If you believe your copyright, trademark, personality rights or privacy have been infringed, you can tell us, even if you are not a Crossova user:

6.2 Please include:

  • your name and contact details,
  • the link to or location of the content,
  • which right is infringed and how,
  • information showing you are the rights holder or authorised representative.

6.3 A human reviews every notice. We comply with valid court and official orders without delay. If we remove content, we tell its owner with the reasons and give them a right to appeal, unless a legal restriction prevents this.

7. Moderation, sanctions and appeals

7.1 How we decide. A human reviews reports; we do not use AI for automated moderation. A report on its own never leads to an automatic restriction or closure: a human always makes the decision.

7.2 The one exception. When a report is made for child safety or intimate images without consent, to stop possible harm straight away the content is hidden immediately and the account concerned is frozen until the review is finished. If no violation is found, the content and account are restored. Media in these cases is never sent to any outside service.

7.3 What we can do. Depending on how serious the violation is:

  • a warning,
  • hiding or removing content,
  • restricting features (e.g. muting in a chat),
  • temporarily restricting or suspending the account,
  • closing it permanently.

The steps are described in the Community Rules. For severe violations (child sexual exploitation, intimate images without consent, serious threats, incitement to violence, fraud) we may close an account permanently straight away.

7.4 Notice and reasons. When your content is removed or your account is restricted, we tell you in the app which rule we relied on and why, unless the law prevents us.

7.5 Appeals. You can appeal within 14 days of learning of the decision, using the Appeal button in the app or by writing to [email protected]. You can appeal and write to us in the support chat even while your account is restricted or suspended. A human reviews your appeal and we tell you the outcome with reasons. If you are right, the content or account is restored.

7.6 Official requests. If content was removed under a court or authority order, you must appeal to the authority that issued the order. We only carry it out.

7.7 We have no obligation to pre-screen content. Moderating content does not mean we approve every item.

8. Meetups and safety

8.1 Crossova makes it easier for people to meet in real life. We do not guarantee users' identity, background or trustworthiness, and we do not run criminal-record or similar checks. Badges such as "verified" only show that the stated item (e.g. a phone number) was verified; they do not guarantee the safety of an event or a person.

8.2 When meeting people you don't know:

  • choose busy, public places,
  • tell someone you trust about your plans,
  • arrange your own transport,
  • leave as soon as you feel uncomfortable.

8.3 The Safety Center (trusted contacts, safe return, SOS) is a set of tools that help notify you and the people you choose. It is not an emergency service, it does not call the police or an ambulance, and it does not replace 112. These tools may fail or be delayed for reasons outside our control, such as internet connection, phone settings, battery and notification permissions. In an emergency, always call 112. Our liability for our own fault remains as set out in §13.

8.4 Users are responsible for how they behave towards each other at meetups. If you report that a user harassed you or behaved dangerously, we give these reports priority; reviews are not instant, though. Where necessary and permitted by law, we cooperate with the authorities.

9. Mil

9.1 Mil is an in-app thank-you and loyalty point. Mil is not money and has no value in Turkish lira or any other currency. Mil cannot be bought or sold, cannot be transferred to another account and cannot be cashed out.

9.2 How Mil is earned and used, donation campaigns and when Mil may be taken back are set out in the separate Mil and Rewards Terms, which form part of this agreement and prevail on Mil matters.

9.3 Mil earned through cheating, fake accounts or automation may be taken back.

10. Crossova Plus

10.1 Today Plus can be obtained only with Mil; it is not sold for money and you are never charged. You switch it on for a set period (e.g. 7 days) by spending Mil in the Mil Market.

10.2 Plus is time-limited and does not renew automatically: it simply ends when the period is over. If you want it again, you get it with Mil again.

10.3 If we ever start selling Plus for money, it will be sold only through the Apple App Store or Google Play (in-app purchase). Before any sale we will give you separate pre-contractual information on price, term, renewal and cancellation, and the sale will be subject to Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the Distance Contracts Regulation. We will also update this section at least 15 days in advance under §15. Until then, you will never be asked to pay for Plus.

10.4 Safety features are never tied to Plus.

11. Trademarks, clubs and third-party names

11.1 Names of clubs, leagues, artists, venues, airlines, events and brands appear in the app only to identify the match, event or place. Unless expressly stated, there is no official relationship, sponsorship or endorsement between their owners and Crossova. Features such as Tribün and team colours are for fan interaction.

11.2 Users may not use other people's trademarks, logos or crests in a way that suggests an official connection (e.g. acting as a club's "official" account).

11.3 Some links in the app (flights, stays, tours, tickets) lead to other companies' websites. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

12. Changes, interruptions and notifications

12.1 We keep improving Crossova and may change, add or remove features. If we materially restrict a paid feature, we will tell you in advance, and your consumer rights remain unaffected. We cannot guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance and updates may cause short interruptions.

12.2 We send notifications about how the service works (messages, Crosses, safety) according to your notification settings. Promotional notifications such as Suggestions and campaigns need a separate permission: they are off by default, are sent only if you turn them on, and you can turn them off in Settings at any time.

13. Liability

13.1 We provide the service with reasonable care.

13.2 To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

  • (a) content shared by users, provided we act lawfully once notified,
  • (b) users' behaviour towards each other or third parties,
  • (c) cancellation or postponement of events, or tickets,
  • (d) failures caused by the internet or devices,
  • (e) indirect damage caused by our slight negligence.

13.3 However, our liability for intent or gross negligence cannot be excluded or limited in advance. Our liability for harm to life, body and health and your rights under consumer law remain unaffected. Nothing in these terms takes away a right that mandatory law gives you.

13.4 If you breach these terms or the law and cause harm to us or others, you are responsible for that harm as provided by law.

14. Termination

14.1 By you. You can close your account at any time in Settings → Delete account; if you can't get into the app, you can request it at crossova.app/en/delete-account. Deleting your account ends your Mil balance and any remaining Plus period (Mil and Rewards Terms §8). Your data is deleted within the periods in the Privacy Policy. The following remain even after your account is deleted:

  • messages you sent in Crosses and chats shared with others, for the chat retention period (without your name),
  • the traffic log we keep under Turkish Law No. 5651 (IP address, time and, where available, port at sign-in and when content is created): 1 year, with restricted access,
  • records of data-rights requests (e.g. your deletion request): 3 years, to prove we handled them,
  • records linked to an open report, appeal or legal proceeding: until it ends, with restricted access.

14.2 By us. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Community Rules, we may close your account under §7, and your right to appeal remains. If we shut the service down entirely, we will give at least 30 days' notice and offer a way to download your data.

14.3 Termination does not affect rights and obligations that arose before it. §5.4, §13 and §16 survive termination.

15. Changes to these terms

15.1 We may update these terms. We will announce material changes (those affecting your rights or obligations) in the app and to your registered e-mail address at least 15 days before they take effect, and we will ask for your explicit consent in the app.

15.2 If you don't agree, you can close your account. Continuing to use the app without consenting does not mean you accept material changes, though you may not be able to use the affected feature.

15.3 Minor corrections (typos, contact details, new features that don't disadvantage you) take effect on announcement.

15.4 We keep previous versions; ask at [email protected] and we will send them to you.

16. Governing law and disputes

16.1 These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.

16.2 As a consumer, under Articles 68 and 73 of Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, you may apply:

  • to the consumer arbitration committee where you live or where the transaction took place, within the monetary limits announced each year,
  • above those limits, to the consumer court.

Your right to sue in the consumer court where you live is reserved. Mediation before a lawsuit may be mandatory where the law requires it.

16.3 If you live in the European Union, the rights given to you by the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence, and your right to go to the courts of that country, remain unaffected.

16.4 For users who are not consumers, Istanbul (Central) courts and enforcement offices have jurisdiction.

17. Miscellaneous

17.1 If one provision is invalid, the others are unaffected.

17.2 Exercising a right late does not mean we waive it.

17.3 When a company is set up for Crossova, or in a merger or acquisition, we may transfer this agreement to our successor with prior notice; your rights are preserved.

17.4 Our records may serve as evidence under Article 193 of the Turkish Code of Civil Procedure; you may prove otherwise.

18. Contact
